THE SOCIAL THEORY AS VISUAL METAPHOR

This article proposes an alternative approach to social theory. Its aim is to advance a different "view" of the history of the Social Sciences. It traces this history by describing the predominant modes of observation for each historical period. It studies the changing praxis of observing human societies as the basis for a genuine sociology, and as a metaphoric game that allows us a better comprehension of classical social theory.
