摘要
The use of the DNA-binding fluorochrome DAPI as a tool in the diagnosis of Lethal Disease of coconut palm in Tanzania is complicated by the occurrence of fluorescence in unstained sections of diseased palms. This autofluorescence is attributed to collapsed phloem elements and phloem and parenchyma cells filled with biogenic amines. It can be distinguished from the DAPI-induced fluorescence with the fluorochrome Rhodamine B.
