摘要
The global challenge to prevent terrorists, particularly the suicide bombers, for perpetrating their attrocities against innocent civilians is as present and real as ever. In recognition of this, a detailed account of the terrorist attacks on the London transport system of July 2005 is given. The callousness of the attackers is evident from the way in which they coldly executed their attack in which 54 London commuters lost their lives and many more were seriously injured. The vulnerability of targets such as heavily used urban transport systems is evident, as is the enormity of the task to prevent attacks from occurring. One conclusion from this analysis is that it is not sufficient to leave the problem of security against terrorist to the police, intelligence and emergency services alone, but to engage the population at large.
