摘要
Chromosome studies of European Cyprinidae started as early as in the fifties and continue up to now bringing many important data dealing with diploid chromosome numbers, karyotype morphologies and their variations throughout the range of species, additional or B- chromosomes, diploid-tetraploid relationships, different kinds of chromosome banding patterns and presence of gyno- and/or hybridogenetic systems in some genera, but they have never been summarized. All these findings are briefly reviewed and discussed. A list of chromosome numbers, karyotype morphologies, fundamental arm numbers, numbers of specimens analyzed and localities of 65 species so far studied from more than 100 cyprinid taxa occurring in Europe, is presented. A comprehensive list of references is also included.
