摘要
The introduction of magneto-resistive (MR) heads into disk drives has significantly increased the areal density. However, accompanying the MR head is the problem of thermal asperities which can cause unrecoverable errors if improperly compensated. This paper describes inexpensive digital techniques employed with a sampling detector that significantly reduce the chances of thermal asperity-induced unrecoverable errors.
