MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES AND NEUTRON-IRRADIATION EFFECTS IN THE WELDS OF MOLYBDENUM AND ITS ALLOYS

摘要
We tried to evaluate the possibilities of electron-beam welds of Mo and its alloys for nuclear applications. Mechanical properties of Mo and its alloys were generally degraded by electron-beam welding and by neutron irradiation. Addition of carbon was effective to suppress the intergranular embrittlement, which was caused by electron-beam welding and neutron irradiation. Segregation of carbon and precipitation of carbides seemed to enhance the intergranular cohesion and considerable strength and ductility was maintained. TZM showed higher strength at high temperatures but lower bend ductility in the case of neutron irradiation.
