Posterior lumbar interbody fusion using Brantigan's cages - Initial results

We are reporting our results in 10 consecutive patients operated of posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) with Brantigan's cages since the latest months of 1992, The patients have been followed between 6 and 30 months, The clinical results have been excellent or good in 7 out of 10 patients and the percentage of fusion range 100%. Although the series is small, we think the PLIF with Brantigan's cages is an ingenious and efficacious technique to obtain a good intervertebral fusion recovering at the same time the normal disc height.
