CIS-TRANS-ISOMERIZATION OF POLYESTERS BASED ON 1,4-CYCLOHEXANEDICARBOXYLIC ACID IN THE LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE AND ISOTROPIC STATES

摘要：
Polyesters based on 4,4'-(cis-1,4-cyclohexanedicarbonyldioxy)dibenzoic acid and resorcinol or chlorohydroquinone were synthesized. The rate constants of the cis/trans isomerization reaction in the liquid-crystalline and isotropic states were measured. A liquid-crystalline environment is shown to enhance the rate of isomerization, but the chain rigidity determines the cis/trans equilibrium ratio of 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid moieties.
