摘要
This paper discusses ultra-thin coated films for high density longitudinal magnetic recording barium ferrite media. After controlled spin-coating Al-substrates with the improved barium ferrite magnetic paints, ultra-thin coated film with 0.1 mum thickness can be obtained. The ultra-thin coated films have the same magnetic properties as the films fabricated with the conventional method. At the 0.2 mum head flying height, 42 kFCI can be atained for D50 in the 0.2 mum thickness film. A transmission electron microscopy image of a barium ferrite particle in which some Fe elements are substituted for Ni and Ti shows that the distances between Ba planes along the c-axis are about 1.2 nm and there is no difference between the crystalline structure at the surface and at the center of a particle.
