摘要
The experiments of Jaeger et al. provide the motivation for our investigation of relaxation in granular media. In this simulation, we model the effect of vibration on a granular pile as random noise in its interior: This idea, combined with others from a more microscopic viewpoint are used to investigate the rate of relaxation of the surface of the pile, where good agreement with experiment is obtained. © 1990 IOP Publishing Ltd.
