摘要
The proper positioning of the baby is related to better sleep pattern, ventilatory stability, reduced risks for periintraventricular hemorrhage and gastroesophageal reflux. Objective: To discuss the importance of positioning the baby in bed, by the nursing staff, to maintain hemodynamic stability and risk prevention in a neonatal ICU. Method: This is a literature research, involving the investigation for materials in public programs, books and articles found in electronic and printed materials in a range from 1998 to 2008. Results: We deal decubitus dorsal, ventral and lateral across indications, contraindications and clinical relationship with the newborns. Conclusion: We emphasize the need for technical and scientific knowledge about these positions, by nurses, aimed at hemodynamic stability baby sick, fostering their appropriate roles, encouraging the body organization, maintaining a state of regular sleep and neuromotor development.
