ANALYTIC EXPRESSIONS FOR THE LAMBDA ENERGY IN THE LOWER NODELESS LAMBDA SINGLE-PARTICLE STATES

A LAMBDA-nucleus single particle potential, mainly suitable for relatively light hypernuclei, which gives analytic expressions for the LAMBDA energies in the lower nodeless LAMBDA orbits is used for an analysis of the experimental data. The results are discussed and compared with those obtained, in the same way, for a Woods-Saxon potential. It turns out that the analytic expressions for the B(LAMBDA) energies, in the region of their validity, give results which are close to the experimental values and compare favorably with the ones obtained with the (more realistic) Woods-Saxon hypernuclear potential. Our analysis also shows a state dependence of the depth of the LAMBDA-nucleus potential which, however, is rather weak. Finally, the use of an effective LAMBDA mass is also discussed.
