摘要
For adult patients having severe orthodontic problems, neither growth modification nor the camouflage offers a solution. Surgery to realign the jaws or reposition dentoalveolar segments is the only possible treatment option left. One indication for surgery obviously is a malocclusion too severe for orthodontics alone. In this case report, we present combined orthodontic and orthognathic surgical treatment plan of an adult male patient with skeletal class III malocclusion. Patient's malocclusion was decompensated by pre-surgical orthodontic treatment and then normal jaw relationship was achieved by bilateral sagittal split osteotomy. The surgical orthodontic combination therapy has presented near normal skeletal, dental and soft tissue relationship, with marked improvement in facial esthetics, in turn has helped the patient to improve the self-confidence level.
