SECURITY AS AN ISSUE OF INTERNATIONAL-POLITICS

This article tries to demonstrate the multidimensionality of security issues and relates security to risk. Its different dimensions are being discussed and security issues are being followed in various policy fields. Threat is being conceptionalized in spacial and time-sequential theories and concretized for Western Europe and Italy. We, then, deal with the change from the military to economic, social and ecological issues after the ending of the Cold War. The three models for security, namely dominance, balance of power and interdependency are being discussed with a clear preference for the latter in the years ahead.
