摘要
This article examines the extent to which behavioral rating scales constitute a valid measure for assessment of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in culturally different groups. First, major issues in assessment of ADHD and cross-cultural assessment are presented. Second, studies which have assessed culturally different groups are reviewed. Third, the norm groups of 11 behavioral rating scales are analyzed in terms of their validity for use in assessment of culturally different populations. Finally, the findings are discussed and directions for future research are presented. The lack of available evidence suggests that the use of behavioral ratings with culturally different groups should be undertaken with caution.
