KNOWLEDGE GENERALIZATION AND PROBLEM-SOLVING

In this synthetic paper, the transformation of knowledge with problem solving is considered from the point of view of the progressive elaboration of more and more operational categories of problems. The role of the various processes of generalization which are involved in the categorization process is specifically analyzed. Four paradigms are described: inductive generalization, generalization and analogical reasoning, generalization and case-based reasoning, generalization and explanation-based reasoning.
