摘要
The characteristics of the River Tees, together with the introduction of new bylaws for the control and management of some 22 km of river upstream of the barrage, are described. The impounding procedure is highlighted as are the operation of the barrage and the ongoing monitoring arrangements. The paper finally sets down the management proposals and development opportunities for the upstream river which, it is believed, form a sound foundation for the optimization of the river corridor.
