Mucoepidermoid carcinoma of tongue base: a case report

Minor salivary gland tumors are rarely observed in the oral cavity. Most common intraoral minor salivary gland neoplasm is mucoepidermoid carcinoma. It is most frequently seen in the 35-65 years, but may be seen at any age. Most common presentation is mass in the oral cavity. It is composed of variable proportions of epidermoid, mucous and intermediate cells. Histologically it is classified as low, intermediate and high-grade tumors. Prognosis is better in low-grade tumors. In this case report we present a 55 years old man, complaining of dysphagia, diagnosed with mucoepidermoid carcinoma in the tongue base with his clinical, radiological and pathological characteristics.
