USE A SAFETY ADVISORY GROUP

The Safety Advisory Organization (SAO) is a system that monitors Marathon Petroleum Co. 's overall plant safety condition. SAO is a staff organization used by the company's division manager to aid in monitoring the plant-wide safety effort. The group is comprised of inspection teams representing a cross section of the entire refinery organization and is desigend to operate independently of the normal organizational structure. The organization performs an ongoing audit of the total safety effort within the refinery and specifically identifies where potential deficiencies exist. It reports its findings to the division manager.
