[Nb(Cl)(O)(C5H5)2], M(r) = 274.54, orthorhombic, Fdd2, a = 14.676 (4), b = 44.39 (1), c = 6.200 (1) angstrom, V = 4039 (2) angstrom 3, Z = 16, D(x) = 1.806 g cm-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71073 angstrom, mu = 6.87 cm-1, F(000) = 2176, T = 296 K, R(F) = 3.09% for 803 observed [F(o) > 6-sigma(F(o))] reflections and 99 parameters. This Nb(v) compound has a typical bent metallocene structure with a centroid-metal-centroid angle of 128.2 (1)-degrees. The Cl-Nb-O angle of 98.4 (2)-degrees is perpendicular to, and bisected by, the centroid-metal-centroid plane. When projected down the centroid-centroid vector, the cyclopentadienyl rings are in a staggered conformation.
