EFFECT OF KINETICS ON CARBONITRIDE COMPOSITION IN MICROALLOYED STEELS CONTAINING NB AND V

摘要
A calculation of precipitate composition is carried out for a carbonitride containing niobium and vanadium growing in austenite. It is shown that carbonitrides growing with higher levels of nitrogen present in austenite are richer in vanadium. These results are shown to imply that growth kinetics may be at least partially responsible for the finer carbonitrides precipitated within the deformed austenite having a higher niobium content than the larger grain boundary nucleated carbonitrides.
