Estimation of the effect of selective mass transfer on the rate of chemical conversions in a flow reactor with a homogeneous reading zone

It is shown that when the law of mass action holds for a flow reactor with a homogeneous reacting zone, the influence of selective mass transfer on the overall rate of the chemical reaction depends on the sign of the scalar product of the gradient of the chemical-reaction rate and the vector of the ''resulting node'' of selective mass transfer. Factors that account for the character of this influence are discussed.
