Although conveyor belt technology enjoys a long tradition, there are constantly rising demands through automation, more complex industrial technology and a further diversification of belts. Ozone and aging resistance, dynamic and cut resistance of the rubber compound are of paramount importance for the life cycle. Material recycling of rubber waste comes more and more into focus. It is ever more important to avoid toxic and corrosive components in case of fire for belts used below ground. Some attempts to solve such problems are described, with emphasis on polyoctenamer and vinyl acetate copolymers.
