摘要
This article outlines the understanding of the concepts of perimeter and area by some students of a school in a coffee-growing region in Antioquia, in the context of coffee planting. This research project seeks to find a relationship between the geometric and colloquial languages within coffee farming; bearing in mind that the latter can influence the understanding of the former, this study is part of the qualitative paradigm. The motivation to tackle this work lies in the difficulties students manifested in learning mathematical concepts because they lack proper management of that language. Therefore, we expect to promote understanding, obtaining the corresponding mathematical significance and the contextual meaning of mathematical expressions used.
