摘要
The objective of this article is to show the relevance of tourism as an agent of economic development. By means of a bibliographic study we establish basic notions about the origin and evolution of tourism, in particular sustainable tourism with emphasis on taking advance of the natural and cultural resources that Ecuador possesses. The social and economic benefits of the sustainability managed of tourism (agrotourism, ecotourism, community tourism, etc) enable actor to attain "El Buen Vivir" (Good Living), in harmony with nature, and form part of the national model of production.
