摘要
The chemical effects of carbon dioxide laser irradiation on some borosilicate glasses have been investigated. Specimens of Tempax and BK7 glass were analysed before and after laser irradiation and were found to have undergone subtle changes in chemical composition. These were though to have been caused by surface heating. This paper describes the application of Rutherford backscattering spectrometry and nuclear reaction analysis using the B-11(p, alpha)Be-8 and O-16(d, p)O-17 reactions to the study of these glasses.
