摘要：
On the basis of a review of the literature, the various aspects of osteoarthritis of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb are discussed. Clinical and roentgenographic features are described and the various medical and surgical possibilities for treatment are analyzed. The different surgical techniques are detailed and, for each, indications and shortcomings are emphasized.
