摘要
The critical Reynolds number for the onset of Taylor vortices for time modulated inner cylinder velocity and resting outer cylinder is calculated as a function of the modulation amplitude and compared with existing data. The differences between theoretical and experimental values are analysed. We furthermore enlarged the modulation amplitude beyond those obtained in the experiments and predict that in this range the degree of destabilization is rather independent of the modulation frequency.
