摘要:
The Zionist movement was a product of the nationalistic fever, which took over Europe in the second half of the nineteenth century. Although its supporters carne from a range of different opinions and ideologies they all shared the goal of establishing a Jewish state in Palestine. The author claims that although this goal has been achieved the geo-political situation oflsrael has never been normalized. This has led on the one hand to Zionism becoming obsolete and on the other to the emergence of a small but active minority of messianic Zionists. Howevcr, it is maintained in the article that in Israeli society there is an understanding of the importance of a lasting agreement about the frontiers of Israel. The problem is carrying out this resolution, whose urgency stems from the demographic characteristics ofthe situation in the area.
