FORMATION OF QUASI-STATIONARY STATES IN POLYATOMIC SYSTEMS

摘要：
Principles have been formulated for a qualitative theory of resonances of form, through which the number and sequence of resonances can be predicted approximately from information on the tye of atoms and their mutual positions. A combined application of these principles and qualitative methods of LCAO-MO theory has been demonstrated in the example of resonances manifested in thex-ray absorption spectra of sulfur in compounds with different symmetries. For semiquantitative studies of characteristics, a model has been proposed in which the atoms are simulated by rectangular potential wells.
