Grundlagen: Die Behandlung pyogener Infektionen im Bereich der Hand stellt sowohl an die theoretischen als auch praktischen Fähigkeiten des verantwortlichen Arztes hohe Anforderungen. Neben der Beherrschung einer subtilen handchirugischen Operationstechnik, ist ein umfassendes Wissen über die anatomischen Besonderheiten der einzelnen Zonen der Hand erforderlich.
