The influence of multilayer wear-resistant coatings on the contact processes and the thermal state of the tool in the transverse cutting and thread cutting of workpieces is studied. The effectiveness of cutters with the proposed multilayer coatings is demonstrated. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.
