Highlights the health implications and consequences of substance misuse and how this can impact on the delivery of general dental care.Emphasises why thorough information-gathering prior to any procedure is imperative for the safe delivery of care.Discusses the indications for appropriate referral of patients to secondary care and the multidisciplinary management of patients therein.
