Convexity and best approximation in Banach spaces

In this paper, we present some characterizations of nearly strongly convex and very convex spaces in terms of best approximation theoretic properties of Banach spaces. We also study E-proximinality of subsets of Banach spaces and show that E-proximinality of every closed convex subset of a Banach space is equivalent to the reflexive property of the space.
