摘要
Considers the environmental impacts of water power projects associated with the building of reservoirs and altering of water regimes. Environmental impact assessment (EIA) regulatory requirements and guidance in Russia is discussed in detail. Experience and findings of EIA of a number of large and small hydropower schemes are reviewed. Determination of social and health effects is one of the most critical elements of an EIA study.
