摘要
This study examines the relationship between green human resource management and environmental performance using green employee empowerment and organizational citizenship behavior for the environment. It also evaluates the moderating role of environmental knowledge between green human resource management and green employee empowerment, which was not discussed in previous studies—the research data was collected from Pakistani hotel industry employees using a cross-sectional process method. The total number of employees who completed the questionnaire was 360, out of which 237 were considered valid as these responses were used for further partial least square analysis. The study's findings revealed that green human resource management practices directly correlate with environmental performance. Furthermore, the results shed light on green employee empowerment and organizational citizenship behavior for the environment with moderation by environmental knowledge and individual green values to motivate employees to achieve sustainability leading toward ecological performance. This study supports theoretical contributions using the ability, motivation, and opportunity and sports value framework theories. In addition, our outcomes contribute to the literature by incorporating the moderation role of environmental knowledge between green human resource management and green employee empowerment. The study provides implications for green human resource management practices and sustainable environmental performance to top management and policymakers.
