摘要
Background: Various major advances in the treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases have resulted in an increasing number of therapeutic options. The design of a multidisciplinary protocol is essential to define best treatment sequence for these patients. Methods: Interdisciplinary groups have been established in most specialized institutions around the world changing concepts towards a neoadjuvant treatment cascade even in resectable liver disease. Results: Treatment protocols of these groups have not yet established generally excepted guidelines but an increasing number of impressive results will help us to define best patients' care directives. Conclusions: Multidisciplinary treatment approaches have resulted in an increasing number of patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases becoming candidates for potentially curable disease management. © Springer-Verlag 2006.
