Plasmon Spectroscopy: Methods, Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

We provide an introduction to several technical aspects in surface plasmon spectroscopy. For a specific experimental set-up, we discuss in detail experimental procedures, an angle scanning machine with monochromatic illumination. Most of the considerations apply with minor adaptations, to plasmon spectrometers in general. Standard experimental procedures are presented and their limits are addressed. A detailed description of proper data evaluation is provided. In particular, possible sources of experimental artefacts and measures to avoid them are addressed.
