摘要
Lipoma is universal and abundantly located in the benign soft tissue tumor which is composed of fat cells. These tumors often develop where adipose tissue is prominent. Patients are often asymptomatic and deny pain or tenderness over the lesions and are only treated or excised if they cause pain due to their location and/or impact an organ’s function. Here, we report a case of an elderly 70-year-old male presenting with a swelling in the left frontal region, confirmed as lipoma based on histopathological examination, treated by surgical excision. Dermal lipomas are relatively uncommon lipoma subtype. Due to the unfamiliarity with that pathology, they have been commonly misclassified and misdiagnosed with other benign and malignant lesions. Careful clinical and histological examination can reveal the typical characteristics of lipomas and be pathognomonic in the majority of cases. This can further allow appropriate treatment and prognosis.
