摘要
In order to achieve eco-friendly machining processes, which are becoming important issues in manufacturing, the performances of factories, machine tools, and machining processes should be adapted to allow them to perform their tasks with minimal energy consumption and emissions. This paper discusses some of the reasons why we have to pay attention to the environmental aspects of machining processes. This is followed by the introduction to some challenges to attaining sustainable manufacturing with less energy consumption, waste, and emissions. Manufacturing is a lifeline for Japan, which does not have adequate amounts of natural resources.
