The debate on the professionalisation and development of the Counselling/Supervision field is considered. An analysis of the major professional journals shows that the focus of attention is on the expansion of the profession into new fields, as more and more Counsellers/Supervisors are working in the profit sector. However, the new experiences gained there are not to be found among the published articles and the debate continues without considering actual facts. The central claim is that members of a profession that defines itself through reflective thought, are indeed not reflecting on their own profession and position.
