Abstract: The dynamic loading of hydraulic cylinders that adjust the boom radius of a crane is numerically modeled, in the following conditions: prolonged load ascent, sharp load ascent, sudden load removal from jib, outrigger sagging, change in boom radius (jib lowering). In each case, the displacement of the jib head and the hinge attaching the hydraulic jacks and also the reaction of jack components are plotted. The stress amplitudes for the cylinder rod and piston are calculated, taking the stiffness of the working fluid into account. © 2022, Allerton Press, Inc.
