Recurrent Retrorectal Epidermoid Cyst: a 17-Years History

Retrorectal epidermoid cysts are rare and benign developmental tumors. We report the case of a 73-year-old woman affected by a retrorectal cyst; after double attempts of surgical resection and double recurrences, she refused any further surgery. Surgical resection is the only therapeutic option; however, as in the case reported, follow-up may be a reasonable option when the patient denies surgery, when the pathological diagnosis with its inherent risk of malignant degeneration is established, and when imaging features of the cyst remain stable over time.
