摘要
The objective of this research is to establish a novel medical material from cuttlebone (calcium source). It uses sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a surfactant template. It will be employed for use in all tissues by converting the powder form to a hydrogel for the elderly or patient. The hydrogel is constructed with gelatin as the base material and genipin as the crosslinking agent to increase the material's strength. It was observed that swelling behavior and degradation rate in DI water were superior to those of PBS solution. This is because gelatin molecules react more strongly with the OH group of DI water, and the network contains hydrophilic groups (-OH and -NH2). In low concentrations, the cytotoxicity test was reported to be in the 70–75%. It can be noted that hydroxyapatite prepared from cuttlebone with the aid of low concentration of SDS was considered as an excellent candidate for scaffold material.
