Thermal Expansion and Isothermal Compressibility of TlGaTe2

摘要
The temperature dependences of thermal expansion and isothermal compressibility for TlGaTe2 indicate that this compound undergoes a second-order phase transition at 98 K. The experimental data are used to evaluate the Debye characteristic temperature, rms dynamic atomic displacements, specific heat difference Cp - CV, and Gruneisen parameter. The appreciable discrepancy between the Cp - CV values calculated using thermodynamic relations and an empirical formula is attributed to the pronounced anisotropy of TlGaTe2 crystals.
