Compact Dual Notched Band UWB Antenna Using DGS and Slots with its Equivalent Circuit

In this paper, an ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna with two notched bands for eliminating WiMAX and WLAN services is proposed. The designed microstrip antenna is compact, low profile, and has a low-cost structure. The proposed antenna is a modified rectangular patch where its lower edges are tapered to increase the corresponding bandwidth. The antenna is fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW). Three individual stubs are inserted in the middle and two edges of the patch. The embedded slots improve the impedance matching and create dual notched bands. The size of the antenna is 25.5 × 30 mm2, which is fabricated on the FR4 substrate with a thickness of 1.2 mm. The proposed antenna covers 2.8–13.3 GHz with two stop bands of 3.1–4 GHz and 5–5.9 GHz for WiMAX and WLAN, respectively. Moreover, the measurement results confirm that the antenna has omnidirectional radiation pattern with maximum gain of 4.85 dB. The measurement and the simulation results are in good agreement. In addition, the equivalent circuit model is extracted and the corresponding result is compared to those of simulation and measurement ones.
