Are business schools critical to management development? Lessons from Australia and Germany

摘要
German management development traditionally downplays formal business education, such as MBA programs, in developing its managers, preferring customized in-company programs. By contrast, most Australian enterprises traditionally have not developed managers beyond sending selected high-potential employees to business schools. The different emphasis on business schools versus in-company development in the two cultures is traced to their cultural views of management and education.
