摘要
In the present work three different clay ceramic bodies used for roofing tiles produced in Campos dos Goytacazes, north of the State of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, were characterized. Characterization was done by X-ray diffraction, thermo analysis, chemical composition, particle size distribution and plasticity. In addition, technological properties related to water absorption and linear shrinkage were determined in samples fired at temperatures between 875 and 1075degreesC. The results showed that the bodies are very plastic and present a refractory behavior in association with firing due to the predominantly kaolinitic nature of the clays.
