Sense and meaning of happiness at work for professors

Why is happiness important at the workplace? One of the reasons is that most human beings spend great part of their time at work, which occupies a central place in their lives. The objectives of this research was to understand the relationship between the meaning and significance of work and happiness at the workplace for professors, based on the epistemological precepts of Positive Psychology. It was conducted following the mixed sequential explanatory method. Report 1 (quantitative) involved the application of an online questionnaire and the Report 2 (qualitative) was elaborated through a semi-structured interview containing open questions. The main findings in both quantitative and qualitative reports suggest that there is a relation between the level of importance of work on professors lives, their pride for the profession, and the relevance of the material conditions for their practice.
