Formation of Luders lines in Al-Mg alloys

摘要
A study has been made to evaluate the factors which affect the formation of Luders Line in A-Mg alloys. All of the A-Mg alloys(4.56 similar to 7.19%Mg) used in this study show type B Luders line at strain rate of 4x10(-4)/sec. Alloys with smaller grain size have more possibility to reveal type A Luders line which is accompanied with yield point elongation on stress-strain curve and detrimental to surface appearance. The formation of type A Luders line is due to the dislocation pinning by Mg atoms in solid solution and dislocation cell structures.
